Document Summary

Energy cannot be created nor destroyed, it always stays constant: example. Conversion of gravitational energy to electrical energy at niagara falls. Some energy can be lost during energy transformation to heat, sound, etc. Entropy of a system and the surroundings will increase energy will always become more spread out. The entropy of the universe is always increasing. The energy lost during energy transformation contributed to entropy. Entropy is the driving force in diffusion. Molecules will move from high to low naturally because of this law: the way to reverse this (low to high), you use work, which needs energy (atp), which goes against the concentration gradient. Second law though the law states that if you left it alone, that it will go from high to lo(cid:449), (cid:449)hi(cid:272)h it (cid:449)ill, (cid:271)ut you(cid:859)re not lea(cid:448)ing it alone. The reason why we need to eat is to keep the energy going into the body to stop entropy from disintegrating the cell.
