Anatomy and Cell Biology 2221 Lecture Notes - Lecture 4: Serratus Posterior Inferior Muscle, Latissimus Dorsi Muscle, Pars Interarticularis
Document Summary
Peel away latissimus dorsi- will see serratus posterior/inferior. O: on the back posterior and inferior. *serratus posterior inferior and superior innervated by ventral rami nerve* Function: when working together extend the neck: working separately rotation and or lateral flexion. Differ by number of vertebrae they jump. Transverse process to multiple spinous processes only a couple of vertebrae up. Not as long of a jump as semispinalis. Attaching on itself (same vertebrae) or one above. Zygopophysial joint- facet joint where inferior and superior articular facets come together. Supraspinous ligament- runs between connective tissue of spinous processes, most posterior. Anterior longitudinal ligament- anterior to the body of the vertebrae. Posterior longitudinal ligament- not the most posterior, posterior to the body of vertebrae. Pars interarticularis ( piece between articulations ) burst fracture can fracture pars of atlas. Spondylolysis ( spine divide ) common at l4/5 due to repeated stress fractures caused by back hyperextension (ex. gymnastics)
