PSY321H1 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Melting Pot, Culture Of Asia, Collectivism
Document Summary
Connecting to other ideas like other subject or your own life. Being critical about thing that we are talking about. Develop a hypothesis (might have done some research b4 the hypothesis) Test hypothesis with experiment (that is why psych is empirical and radical) Write up the findings and share with the scientific community (open science"s role in the field) You cannot modify the hypothesis and background supporting ideas after you have collected data. Don tuse things that are too extreme: how to compare with the cultures. Within and between culture, because some people might reject the culture. Collectivist culture (east asian) and the individualist culture (western european country). You can go there or learning by reading things by the anthropologist (those 2 are not ideal to get expose to the culture) Because you might not speak the national languages. Collaboration is more ideal, because you need people to read something together and translator might keep the same meaning.
