More than any other individual, was the person who brought together all the different strains/ideas/perspectives of realism (like machiavelli and thucydides) and introduced new ideas as well. Brought them together in a coherent form, not single-handedly, but plays a huge role in the codification of realist thought. He"s best known for a textbook called politics among nations (for students) ^^^ brings realism together in this textbook -> reconciles the two conceptions of the b of p: h. carr (1892-1982) Varied career (british diplomat, was at versailles peace negotiations, academic later, then an editor at the times) Wrote on a variety of topics (writing about the history and evolution of the soviet union and he was sympathetic to the soviets [at least early on] that he regretted later!] Also wrote on ir -> most famous book was the twenty years" crisis .
