Democracy is about extending power to the people a radical idea political participation. They worry that democracy will lead to redistribution. Until now, at a pt, where it cannot be extended any further unless non citizens can vote in elections. Rational choice theory school of thought that people behave rationally. Political participation are aimed at producing a public good. Rational choice theorists insist that very few people would logically spend all that time and effort just to achieve a public good jointly provided and not excludable. The individual will benefit from the provision and everyone will benefit too, not just people who produced it.
