Document Summary

Changes in distribution of species in response to climate change. Assume species are found in places that are suitable to them / hospitable. Measure the conditions temperature, precipitation, number of cold days, number of warm days etc . Global climate model how conditions will change and then try to find where the conditions will be found, and allows us to predict how far species have to move. Migrations will be altered by human interventions. Harder for birds to find source of food. Number of species predicted on a mountain top decreases. For species that have altitudinal restrictions, the effects of climate change are likely to be severe. Pyke: census of bumble bees and altitudes and plant community interactions. Species both going up the mountain slope. Tongue length is matched to the resources that they feed on. Longue = flowers with tubes that are long and nectars that are further in.
