Putting a number on intelligence: the intelligence quotient (iq): terman (1916) Ratio iq = ( [mental age] / [actual age] ) * 100: deviation iq, deviation iq = ( [your score] / [average score for those your age] ) * 100 mean: Terman compared your mental age to your actual age. Comparing within ages in more common (30s vs. other 30s); how you are performing relative to others your age helpful for diagnosing aging.
