Stress any circumstances that threaten or are perceived to threaten ne"s well being and that thereby tax one"s coping ability. Major stressors vs. routine hassles: cumulative nature of stress, cognitive appraisals. The way you perceive an event, changes how you cope with. Peripheral system is affected when we are stress that particular event: digestion stops, increase adrenaline glands. Whether something is a stressor or not is psychological how you view it or think about it: e. g. Some people could be excited on a blind date, but there can be people who are stressed out going on a blind date. So the psychological clearly can affect the physical. Also means that psychology can have positive effects, both in terms of dealing with stress and with respect to health in general: if you aren"t completely stress, these health benefits can be seen through psychology. Experiment: the left and middle rats below received shocks.
