Cumulaive nature of stress even rouine hassles can be major if they pile up. Some stress is normal and someimes beneicial (how we learn to cope, learn to avoid) The big picture (mind-body issue) whether something is a stressor or not is a psychological idea (how you view it maters), psych can have posiive efects in terms of dealing with stress and health. Stress factor: perceived level of control the less control, the more stressed (ex. rat shock experiment) Change: having to adapt: social readjustment raing scale, life change units. Pressure: to perform/conform to what people/society expect. Subjecive cogniive appraisal (ex. plan how to deal with it so it doesn"t stress you out as much) How we respond: emoional response (ex. anger) Resilience: ability to cope and be okay (less likely to be afected by stress)
