Document Summary

He was a physiologist and an expert in observation. Prior to him, psychologists were considered as scientists who worked in labs. The psychologists didn"t observe abnormal minds until freud. He was fascinated by patients who had symptoms of a psychological cause. He believed these symptoms didn"t have a physical cause. He conducted an experiment which had a pool of water with magnets in it. The patients sat inside of it and he told them that their ailments would be cured. The patients did get cured after this experiment. Later, they realized that it wasn"t the magnets but was instead was the doctor that cured them by telling them that they"ll get better. It was like a suggestion, which is now considered as hypnotism. This made freud believe that there is a part of the body which is related to the psychological aspect of humans. Freud believed the behaviour of humans was motivated by desires that give psychic energy.
