Document Summary

Lecture 4: models of healthcare and service delivery in canada 26th september 2018. Models perspectives on disability: impairment based, functional limitations based, and ecologically based. Example a person"s joint is failing so she can"t play tennis. Nagi"s model fails because she is able to do other activities: disability can be reversed through treatment of the pathology or changes to the environment. Icf (1980): a biopsychosocial view of health states. Problems with icf: terminology: we don"t" hear the terms handicap and disability anymore because language has evolved. These 3 models have something that we can fix or do. Midlevel theory: there are people involved, it starts to account for some environmental consideration, behaviour theory: go home with a brochure, and give people things to do. Some clinics are covered and some are not. Hospital sector: all of these programs, there are rehab staff available too, all of these are also covered by ohip.
