Document Summary

Education in canada was determined based on the issues in the country. Canada was largely rural, and agricultural where they would live off the land with lots of kids for labour. There were some schools but not all kids were going. The closest we had to education was the apprenticeship program like a blacksmith, Economy: labour intensive economy, children economicly useful . Schooling was informal (no mass numbers of children) Children at this time were only educated up until the elementary level. Economic forces: no longer family-based or rural, there was a change where there were better opportunities in factories and many moved to take advantage in cities, etc. They were no longer apart of a close community. Kids had nothing to do at home because they couldn"t work in factories. This idleness gave thought to the cause of youth crime.
