Document Summary

The process of presening and interpreing numerical data using staisical techniques: primary data analysis. Analysis of data collected: secondary data analysis (variety of research projects) Analysis of data collected for another purpose. Coding: in quanitaive research, codes are the tags used to assign the data on each variable to a category of the variable in quesion. Numbers are usually assigned to each category to allow easier computer processing. Closed quesions are always pre-coded, not random variables. Staisics used to describe the distribuion of and relaionship among variables. A measure that summarizes the magnitude of a set of scores. Mean: arithmeic average for a set of values, sum of all values/number of values, when mean is misleading- outliers: when values are excepionally higher or lower than normal. Median: the middle value, or point that divides the distribuion of values, deal with any extreme outliers, inding the central tendency. Mode: the most frequent value of distribuion.
