CHM110H5 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Redox, Bromate, Horse Length
Document Summary
The purpose of this experiment was to determine the equaion of the redox reacion between bromate ions and hydroxylammonium ions in aqueous acid soluion: Bromate reacts with hydroxylammonium to produce bromine and an unknown compound in aqueous acid soluion. The unknown compound can be determined by inding the relaive number of moles reacing. Table 1: total volume of na2s2o3 consumed during itraion (ml) In order to determine the number of moles of kbro3 reacted, the number of moles of kbro3 remaining in the soluion and the number of moles iniially delivered into the lask are needed for the calculaion. Number of moles of kbro3 iniially delivered into the lask: Number of moles of kbro3 remained in the lask: Bro3 - + 9i- + 6h3o+ br- + 3i3. Consumed = iniial moles of kbro3 excess moles of kbro3. Same calculaions were done for trial 2 and 3.
