The vagina is rich with glycogen, which is responsible for the slight acidic environment of the upper vaginal wall (it helps to kill any bacteria and preventing infection from getting into the uterus: made of stratified muscle. When the mature follicle finally ruptures during ovulation, the oocyte is captured by the fimbriae of the uterine tube. The menstrual cycle can be as short as 2 days and as long as 8 days; but on average it is 5 days. The menstrual cycle can be longer or shorter than 28 days, it just has to be regular. Menstrual cycle is also induced by estrogen.
