Muscular tubes from kidneys to urinary bladder. Muscular organ for temporary storage of urine. In males, base of the urinary bladder lies between rectum and public symphysis. In females, base of the urinary bladder sits inferior to uterus and anterior to vagina. Urinary bladder in females is a litle smaller than males. Conductor of urine from urinary bladder to exterior environment. *note the diferences in how reproducive and urinary systems are connected in females and males. The urinary bladder is illed by the ureters and drained by the urethra. Supporing ligaments: hold the urinary bladder in place. Rugae: allow the expansion of the urinary bladder when urinary volume is increased. Trigone: leads the urine to the external environment -funnel that channels urine into the urethra when the urinary bladder contracts. Internal sphincter: in the neck of the urinary bladder; involuntary control. External sphincter: voluntary control: issues with contracility of these sphincters can lead to uncontrolled urinaion.
