BIO207H5 Lecture Notes - Lecture 6: Allosome, Y Chromosome, Wild Type
Document Summary
Pattern of sexual transmission is different than pattern of autosomal transmission. White eyed male + red eyed female = red eye males and red eyed females. Cross b/w f1 generation, gets white eyed males and red eyed females. F2 cross gives the expected number of genotype and phenotype. When the x"s go in the wrong place while segregating, the abnormal event is called non disjunction. Xy is a female in fly, not a male like humans. Anneploidy is the term for irregular number of chromosomes. Non- disjunction used to prove that chromosomes are a part of inheritance. Sex chromosome mark away the understanding how the actual gender of the individual determined. Humans and mammals with placenta use y chromosome as a marker. The y chromosome leads to the production of testes from gonads, or else they become ovaries. An xo individual in humans, they have regular autosome, but they are sterile. 99% of these types individuals die at birth.
