Document Summary

Peer reviewed journal article or book - usually 3-4 references should be good. Use ecology style - website at library - main point is to be consistent. We can describe the geographic range of a population. Black beak birds - exist in different parts based on season. Could call it an arctic distribution because they"re mostly in the arctic regardless of season. Climate factors - what is ecology that the bird exists in that area. For birds it is the water temperature that causes this. They don"t like very warm water and so stay in colder water areas. Fundamental niche: range of abiotic conditions under which a species can persist. Ex. need cliffs for breeding and the area that they live in are mostly island with higher altitude areas. Ecological reasons for why species exist in specific area. Geographic range is physical distribution of where the species exist. Spread of ecological characteristics determines the fundamental niche.
