Toronto - while urban, it"s still an environment that is host to various animals and plants. We can ask ecological questions about this area. Land use density higher industrial activity tend to have higher temperatures. Either concrete or paved over parking lots - where a lot of heat is being absorbed. Higher use of parks and recreation tend to have lower temperatures. So there are consequences we can see from planning these areas. By zoning areas, we"re able to see the large scale impacts of urban planning. Esker - leftover of a river that used to run under a glacier. Species richness vs distance to center of settlement. Biodiversity seems to be larger when closer to the center of settlement. 1st century bc up to ~1600 years ago, these abandoned settlements still have an effect today. People bring species with them and abandon then they leave e. g. plants.
