Document Summary

Ddt: as an insecticide, the wonder treatment for insects since it was so successful. Researchers were measuring the chemicals in the environment, and they found in phytoplankton, they found ddt. Eggshells become so thin that the parent breaks them by trying to hatch them out. Opened the public"s eyes to the effects of chemical pollution. Genetic diversity: biologists are interested in maintaining the most genetic diversity in a a population, so that they will survive for the longest time possible. Species diversity: easy measure of biological diversity of a particular species. Ecosystem diversity: preserving and protecting the interactions within an ecosystem. Behavioural diversity: can also be crucial for the success or failure of a conservation effort.
