Document Summary

Diabetes and pancreatic cancer are both diseases of the pancreas. The pancreas is responsible for many vital functions such as the production of certain hormones like insulin and glucagon. And the answer is still not yet clear. 1 however a very important point to remember is that during pancreatic cancer a tumor begins to engulf the body of the pancreas. 7. This speculation has been supported by a research conducted in italy in the year of 1994. During this experiment the researchers concluded that 164 patients (22. 8%) who were diagnosed with pancreatic cancer had diabetes compared to 60 patients (8. 3%) who had pancreatic cancer however did not have diabetes. Another statistical analysis of this experiment revealed that out of the 164 patients who had both pancreatic cancer and diabetes, 92 of those patients (40. 2%) were diagnosed with diabetes and pancreatic cancer simultaneously.
