Document Summary

We live in a world where males and females are all around us. They perform their respective duties, the mindset for each is well-known; it all seems very natural to us, this concept of gender. Anthropologists argue in favor of the fact that gender is actually a product of society. The categories of male and female are constructs and vary vastly across cultures. Anatomical differences don"t tell us much about what we decide is male/female it"s what we decide as a society. As human beings, we are sexually dimorphic we have markedly physical differences. These differences are found at the population level, meaning, one person alone can"t classify someone"s sex. There is little evidence to support these physiological differences and we can"t claim that the roles in the caveman era for either sex was the foundation for the current roles of men and women today.
