Reduction is size of dentition (we see larger more globular cranial vault, reduction in thickness of cranial bone and absence of crests) @ 800 - 600,000 ya this new species is a transition from homo erectus to modern. Homo erectus gave rise to a bigger brained descendent. Receding forehead - backward sloping forward because of increase brain size (ours is almost vertical)
