Document Summary

Culture can change depending on geographic location or based on time period; it is dynamic. We can have one massive dominant culture and then smaller groups of people who do not share the dominant values. The oxford english dictionary (oed) defines culture as the ideals customs and social behavior of a particular people or society . The oed also defines culture as the arts or other manifestations of human achievement regarding collectively. The great achievement in the arts, according to the dictionary, is the definition of culture. I. e. you go to the museum and see fire painting culture. This is totally different than the customs and behaviors. Culture is always sort of submerged within the idea of the collective. Since the dawn of homosapiens people have grouped together in one way or another (packs, tribes, communities), and we have done so in order to survive. We have been pack animals from the beginning.
