Power is the core of all social relationships; scare and unequally divided among members of society. Michelle fucot wrote on page 72 where there is power there is resistance . Power is an essential idea in sociology. Social values and the dominant ideology are the vechicles by which the powerful promote their own interests at the expense of the weak. Rooted in the writings in the machiavelli, hobbes and rousseau. War is business and business is war, many sociologists and business degrees require the same reading materials. We are a brittish colony so we talk about european principles. Dialectics: a way of seeing history and society as the result of oppostitions, contradictions and tensions from which social change can emerge (hegel) Idealism: human mind and consciousness are more important in understanding the human condition than is the material world. Human consciousness and human interaction with the material world could change society.
