Knew most people by the end of grade 8, friendly with everyone. Bullying (might be less intentional than in high school) Changing schools, away from your close friends. Shift from small core elementary groups to being mixed in a large high school. Only know a few people in class, most people are strangers. Each class has different people exposed to more cultures, diversity. Children aged 8-18 spend over 7 hours a day using media outside of school. Social interaction has changed for kids: connotation that online is not (cid:498)real(cid:499) interaction. Snapchat: share photos and videos (direct/indirect), messaging, these vanish unless saved. Video about scott: often presenting yourself in a more ideal way on fb. Is this a new thing: sometimes a need for validation, getting likes. Same oxytocin and dopamine increase of interacting online and face-to-face. Using uottawa databases and google scholar to find articles. Consequences of bullying: lowers self-esteem, doesn"t want to go to school, suicide/death, feeling.
