Stepping: when held upright by an adult and moved forward, it beings to step rhythmically: precursor to voluntary walking. Sucking: sucks when an object is placed in its moth: permits feeding. Alert inactivity: calm with eyes open and attentive, deliberately inspecting the environment. Waking activity: eyes are open but unfocused, limbs move in bursts of uncoordinated motion.
