Document Summary
Behaviour genetics: relative power and limits of genetic and environmental influences on behaviour. Chromosomes: contains dna which contains genes > nucleotide. genes: active/expressed, inactive. Largest genetic differences are within races not between them. 2 reasons identical twins dont always have same disease: they have the same genes but not always the same number of copes, sometimes have seperate placenta. Temperment: emotional reactivity, and intensity to everyday life. Molecular genetics: the study of molecular structure and function of genes. Heritability: % of variation within a given population that is due to genes. Epigenetics: the study of influences on gene expression that occur without a dna change. When you start working out there is a gene in your muscle that activates- zahid. Critics say evolutionary psychology starts with an effect and works its way backwards to find the solution. Peer influence: the biggest pressure, risk taking behaviours. Selection effect: we like certain behaviours so we move to peers with same behaviours.
