Aristocracy is the best form of government. By accepting money, the deprived themselves of their intellectual freedom and honesty. The sophist would converse with anyone who would pay their fees. Socrates doesn"t get paid for what he does so he is free to enjoy the company of anyone he chooses. He called what the sophists did was prostitution- they sold their mind (just as bad as selling their body) Socrates is a democrat that doesn"t believe in democracy.
