A con ict is a situation in which two or more goals, values, or events are incompatible or mutually exclusive. If you understand the cause of a con ict, it can help you resolve the con ict and help prevent a similar recurrence. Con icts are an important process and a natural part of collaborative work. Con icts can be cross-generational when there are different values and expectations across generations leading to differences in behaviour, which can lead to con ict. Ie. preferred approach to communication, approaches toward problem solving (work as a team vs. independently), requirements for respect (different value on ideas, professionalism, and work experience: con ict management styles. Works best when quick, decisive action is essential (ie. emergency: accommodative (lose-win): appeasement, satisfying the other"s concerns without taking care of one"s own. Generous or self-sacri cing just to maintain a relationship.
