Con ict is a form of interaction among parties that differ in interests, perceptions and preferences. Con ict is also de ned as the process that begins when one party perceives that the other has negatively affected, or is about to negatively affect, something that he or she cares about . The robbers cave experiment, conducted by muzafer and carolyn sherif, shows how easily behaviour may be changed by putting individuals in a competitive, limited contact situation with another group. Other common causes of con ict are differences in values, interests, personality, education, culture, perceptions, goals and expectations. Con ict may also result from de cient information that causes misunderstandings or when there are power or status differences. Ambiguity can cause con ict when people battle over power or turf that has not been clearly assigned. Competition over scarce resources in whatever form recognition, money or even of ces with windows is also a source of con ict.
