Ethnography and observational research are basically the same thing: exploratory research, qualitative research. Needs a lot of resources but it is very rewarding. Ethnographies are used for the worlds we don"t know about and used for the regular and mundane world we take for granted. 4 types of ethnographic research participation: complete participant, participant as observer, observer as participant, complete observer. Research design: you don"t really have to worry about the sample, should focus more on the field you"re going to study. Major components of ethnographies are looking at ethical factors and challenges: like voluntary participation and protection from harm.
