Purpose of surveys: to study people"s perceptions, opinions, and attitudes. Purpose of surveys: to measure many variables, test multiple hypotheses, and infer about past behavior, experiences or characteristics. Purpose: attempt to generalize about a population based on responses from a sample. Uses deductive approach in a theoretical framework to generate research questions and hypotheses. 19/20 means conducted in same way, and will get the same response follows a deductive approach. One of the most common forms of descriptive research. Can be used with other data collection methods to increase the validity of research e. g. in combination with focus groups time, money and other resource limitations can play a role. E. g. great research tool use pew research centre because it breaks down methodology and explains the limitations. The more people you survey, the better. In 1950s, response rates of 90% were typical (extremely high)
