15/09/16 - cla1102 - lecture 3 - political history. It"s one thing to build a wall, pomerium, some houses. Entirely diff thing to get people to come and live in the city. Anyone that had been charged w/ a crime could come to rome and have their records expunged + rome would protect them from those who wanted them to punish them. Most of the criminals however were men so this posed a problem. @ that point women had fallen for romans and had babies w/ them. Sabines and romans were prepping for mutual slaughter. But then the sabine women came out and stood in b/w and say that they can"t have their fathers + brothers fighting their husbands. Sabines and romans decide to get together as a people. Titus tatius + romulus become joint kings. Titus tatius however does not count as one of the great 7 kings.
