The different types of: rna polymerases and of rna. Both dna strands are replicated by the enzyme dna pol. The entire genome is replicated and only once for a replication cycle. Very accurate: 1 error every 109 1011 nts. Only one of the 2 dna strands is transcribed. Rna pol does not need a primer; it can initiates transcription de novo. Copies certain regions of the genome and to different extents. Makes several copies of sections of the genome. Less accurate than replication: 1 error every 104 106 nts. Total rna: mrna, polysomal rna, trna, lincrna, mirna, pirna, Total rna: mrna, polysomal rna, trna, lincrna, mirna, pirna, sirna, srp rna, tmrna, snrna, snorna, smy rna, scarna, grna, arna, crrna, tasirna, rasirna, 7sk rna. % human genome transcribed: >85% of the genome is transcribed! ~9600 long noncoding rna molecules; at least 200nts.
