Remember: only one of the 2 dna strands is used as a matrix strand for transcription. Lipidic mb between nucleus and cytosol first step is transcription production of rna. In cytosol translation happens according to genetic code. No nucleus in prokaryote so both processes occur in cytosol. One type of rna polymerase is responsible for the synthesis of messenger, transfer and - ribosomal rnas. There are as many as 7000 molecules of rna polymerase in a bacterial cell: transcription very impt for bacteria. Need 2 alphas, one beta, and one beta prime. Catalytic site = beta and beta prime - synthesise catalytic bond between.
