Climax depends on climate, edaphics, the local environment. Gleason - organisms within landscape are competing individuals, may benefit the ones around it, but they are only striving for themselves, species are units. Disturbances can help new growth, some animals like new grass and growth. Either mostly no trees or gallery forest which is a small patch of fire. Maintain different types of disturbances to maintain region diversity. If you suppress fire in a place that is usually maintained by fire, there are lots of things left that are easily flammable, and can catch easily eg fort mcmurry. Intermediate level of frequency and intensity = highest level of species diversity. Intuitive, intense and frequent kills everything, no disturbance allows for species dominance. However, extremes of disturbance (lots or none) is true, does effect species richness.
