Cells need to communicate w/ each other in an efficient manner. The mechanisms by which cells communicate is conserved throughout the various types of cells, allow them to do a variety of things. What could be used for the message; ex. Hormones, influences how quickly it reaches the cell, which receptor it binds to, how long its effect will last. Where is the message sent: how is the message received. Must be able to understand what the message means. Do you act upon every single message; prioritize messages: act upon the message. Something needs to change inside the cell to act upon the message these hormones . The target tissues for steroid hormones do not have receptors on the membrane surface for these hormones because. Steroid hormones are made of 4 hydrocarbon rings, they are therefore lipophilic and diffuse in the lipid bilayer: chemical messengers 6 classes.
