Bacteria influence many types of compounds moreso than most other organisms. Archaea possibly organism to come to earth, or first organism to be created on earth. Slide 54 fossil bacteria left side column are alive, right side dead, still look similar. Very efficient in making it, they start with co2 water and light. They live in water environment, and so oxygen builds up in there. Lead to oxides in metals, (rust is an example) Water has a certain amount of capacity for oxygen, and so the oxygen eventually comes out into the atmosphere.
