Darwin (charles): a british naturalist and geologist, accredited for his work on evolution, summarized by the five theories of evolution. Came from a wealthy family, he abandoned medical school to follow his interest in natural history. He explored the world for over 5 years collecting insects, shells, bones, skins, etc. Darwin would observe the entire population rather than an individual in an area. Five theories: no constancy of species, common ancestory, gradual changes, multiplication of species, natural selection. Descent with modification passing of traits from parent to offspring. It is part of heredity. (the unit of heredity is a gene).
