PSYC*3130 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Face Validity, Content Validity, Construct Validity
Document Summary
Validity: measuring what we want to measure accurately. Is construct supported or not by sources of validity interpretation of sources. Ex. math and vocab truly represent intelligence then a math and vocab test might be said to have high validity when used as a measure of intelligence. Types of validity vs. types of validity evidence. Modern concept views validity as unitary aka construct validity. How to assess sources of validity: evidence based on : test content, relations to other variables, response processes, consequences of testing. Looks at relationship between test contest and construct it"s designed to measure. Usually a qualitative process where expert reviews test content. Is extent to which it is self-evident that a scale is measuring what its supposed to measure and whether it appears to measure what its supposed to measure: ex. Measure math ability, read qs, and decide that yeah this is a good measure of math.
