Gender orders social life and social institutions in basic ways. Masculinity and femininity are based on men"s superiority and social and political - economic dominance over women. Criminal justice system is inherently sexist, dominated by men. Women ignored in criminology because of low (especially violent) female crime rates. Knowledge production is gendered, reflecting men"s views of the natural and social world.
