Hypothesis a falsifiable prediction made by a theory. Falsifiability: the ability to be proven wrong or false. Variables something in the world that can vary. Real life high external validity (conclusion from study applies to real life), few demand characteristics. Operational definition limits the scope of the conceptual variable. Independent variables: variables that are manipulated (controlled by the experimenter) Dependent variables: variables that are measured (outcome is dependent on the manipulation) Difficult to measure infrequent or non-naturally occurring behavior. Demand characteristic a cue from the situation that causes people to behave in a certain way because they think it"s what someone wants or expects. Might be inaccurate due to demand characteristics. Validity: the ability to measure what is intended to be measured.
