Staple of continuing professional education of health care practitioners across many disciplines. Needs of continuing medical education are met. No standard method of implementing a journal club; flexible in design and execution to meet the needs of the participants. Often at least 30 min depends on literature being reviewed and discussions formed. Discussion-based : no slide deck; attendees are expected to have read and critiqued the selected article in advance and are expected to participate. Participants are provided with a handout summarizing the literature being reviewed. Concise and thorough document that helps to guide the discussion. Topic and/or article usually a joint decision made with practice educator. Often targeted to a specific area of practice , to help answer a clinical question or for teaching purposes related to recent patient case or clinical scenarios.
