Minerals don"t donate electrons, but activate enzymes to quench the radicals. We can cause mutation in dna through radical interactions (example of ability of free radicals to cause a lot of damage in the body). Vitamin e and c work in harmony to minimize damage caused by radicals. Free radicals are naturally produced in the body. Mineral activates enzyme systems either to minimize or repair damage caused by free radicals. Vitamin e is very important for reproduction: has 8 different forms, but only 1 form has any kind of impact in the body with effective biological activity. High bioavailability highly regulated at the point of exit (regulation at the kidneys); limited regulation at entry. it is trying to protect the body against over-absorption (by filtering out the excess) When you have a low percent intake, regulation is primarily happening at the point of entry.
