Approach for writing a screenplay is not the same as writing prose ction: script isn"t meant to be consumed by the audience but rather, the end-product the movie is meant to be consumed and appreciated. What is a screenplay: similar to a stage play, it is a production document, contains a story but also contains vital information for production that has nothing to do with the story, should be engaging and readable. To write a successful screenplays: helps to understand story structure, but you need to learn to adhere to the format in order to allow those who are working on the lm to do their jobs. Screenplays use three basic & e cient tools to tell the story: slug lines. What we see on the screen along with sounds we hear. Characteristics: simple, declarative sentences, present tense. : broken up into distinct bits of action, lots of white space on the page, dialogue.
