BUSI 101 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Stephen Covey, Bruce Tuckman
Document Summary
Team-work: being on a team is a lot of work! There is no such thing as a solo-preneur : everything you do in business is team based. You will always be a member of a team, whether informal or formal. Be an active part of the team process! Bruce tuckman in 1965 proposed 3 essential steps to a successful team process1: forming: this is the initial phase of group work. It"s the most comfortable phase, for each team member is looking to avoid contentious situations. This is a task- driven phase; who does what, what are the timelines, who is in what role. This phase can be challenging for all team members; particularly for those who typically avoid conflict or whose nature is conciliatory. The best way for a team to work through this phase is to let it happen, being respectful and exhibiting strong listening and interpretational skills. The best teams embrace and work through the conflict.
