Document Summary

Only a small portion of the electromagnetic spectrum is visible to humans. Of the visual spectrum, we can notice. Hue: the colour of light we perceive. The receptors for light are found deep in the eye, and light must pass through many structures before it reaches the photoreceptor cells. Muscles of the eye and eye movement are important in the clinic to determine damage to brain structures. Pupil opens and closes in response to amount of light. Lens: moves and changes shape to focus an image. Vitreous humour: fluid filled chamber in the back of the eye, some nutritive function, gives the eye its proper shape and size. Retina: located at the back of the eye, different receptors are found at different regions. Fovea: region of mostly cones, lowest convergence here which gives better resolution. Blind spot: where the optic nerve exits the eye, no photoreceptors here, physiological blind spot. Photo receptor cells are the rods and cones.
