Worrisome because he knew this would make the gods jealous (at how well his was doing) Had to sacrifice jewel-encrusted ring and threw in sea. Ring got returned back to him from fish that was caught. Idea that he couldn"t escape that fact that the gods had set their sights for bringing him down (ended badly) Especially angered whenever he loses a contest. Ex. punishes argos and athens when rejected. Poseidon got angered and dried up land of argos. Poseidon flooded lowlands of athens when he lost. Known to make earth shake (represents uncontrollable forces)
