Genetics has an influence on the brain, changes in the brain functions lead to the changes in our behaviour. The genetic code is found in our nucleus of the billions of cells within the body. The genetic material is organized into genes, the basic units of heredity. Genes are responsible for guiding the process of creating the proteins that makeup our physical structures and regulate development and physiological processes throughout the life span. Genes are composed of dna (deoxyribonucleic acid), a molecule formed in a double helix shape that contains four nucleotides: adenine, cytosine, guanine, and thymine. The sequence of nucleotides represents the instructions to create protein. The proteins specify which types of molecules to produce and when to produce them. Genes contain information about which environmental factors might influence whether the genes become expressed or not. Genotype: the genetic makeup of an organism the unique set of genes that comprise that individual"s genetic code.
